Job Description

  • The candidate must provide bedside and personal care.
  • The candidate must administer medications.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting clients with bathing and other personal hygiene activities.
  • The candidate must assist in regular exercise, such as walking.
  • The candidate must change non-sterile dressings.
  • The candidate must launder clothing and household linens.
  • The candidate must perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.
  • The candidate must provide companionship.
  • The candidate must provide personal care.
  • The candidate must prepare and serve healthy meals.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have a Geriatric Certificate, CPR Certificate, First Aid Certificate, Health Care Aide Certificate, and Personal Support Worker Certificate.
  • The candidate must be punctual.
  • The candidate should be client-focused.
  • The candidate should be dependable.
  • The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting independently and taking initiative.
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.

  • The candidate must have experience in caring for elderly individuals and persons with Alzheimer’s disease.
