BC Hydro is located at GM Shrum Gen Station. The company is currently looking for applications for the role of Utility Mobile Fleet Mechanic. We are seeking a self-disciplined individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. The chosen applicant will be required to join and begin their duties as soon as possible. This position is available as a permanent full-time opportunity.

Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for working independently in assigned regions where regular travel is required to support fleet maintenance activities.
  • The candidate must repair, maintain, modify, and commission vehicles and equipment, including aerial devices.
  • The candidate will be responsible for using telematics data to identify maintenance needs and support proactive fleet management.
  • The candidate must create work orders, schedule maintenance activities, and order required parts and materials to support fleet operations.
  • The candidate must coordinate vehicle maintenance and repair activities within the assigned region while working closely with user groups and vendors.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must meet the requirements outlined in the IBEW Collective Agreement.
  • The candidate must possess a British Columbia Trades Qualification (BCTQ) or an Interprovincial Red Seal certification in Commercial Transport (Truck & Transport) or Heavy Duty Mechanics.
  • The candidate must have a valid B.C. Driver’s License Class 3 with an air brake endorsement or a Class 3 learner’s permit with an air brake endorsement.
  • The candidate must have a BC Hydro Fleet Utility Certification or an equivalent qualification, which will be considered an asset.
  • The candidate must have essential maintenance, repair, and operational experience with digger derricks, cranes, material handling aerial devices, and personnel lifts.
  • The candidate must be a Red Seal certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technician and/or Truck and Transport Mechanic.
  • The candidate will be required to complete Utility Fleet Mechanic (UFM) training and become UFM certified as part of the role requirements.
  • The candidate must have or obtain Commercial Vehicle Inspection certification to perform required inspection duties.
