Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and daily use of the department’s GIS resources and services.
  • The candidate will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining City GIS data to support Engineering and Public Works operations.
  • The candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining City base, legal, and utility servicing maps using technical mapping methods.
  • The candidate will be responsible for recording, computing, and maintaining related non-graphic data using computer-assisted techniques and equipment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for researching and integrating data from various sources to support GIS and mapping activities.
  • The candidate will be responsible for updating and refining maps and drawings that support Engineering and Public Works projects.
  • The candidate will be responsible for managing important non-graphic data with accuracy, attention to detail, and care.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must be a highly self-motivated professional with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within team environments.
  • The candidate must have experience preparing, updating, and producing maps for diverse projects using ArcGIS Pro and other ArcGIS products.
  • The candidate must have sound knowledge of computer-assisted mapping and drafting techniques, procedures, materials, and mapping principles.
  • The candidate must have strong working knowledge of the Esri ArcGIS suite, particularly ArcGIS Pro, with the ability to navigate and troubleshoot the software with minimal guidance.
  • The candidate must have experience interpreting and researching legal survey plans and engineering drawings to accurately digitize, update, and maintain municipal infrastructure databases.
  • The candidate must be able to follow established procedures with precision while providing thoughtful recommendations for process improvements.
  • The candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess public sector work experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess an Advanced Diploma in GIS from an accredited institute or post-secondary training in Computing Science or Geography combined with formal GIS training from an accredited institution.
