Disability Claims Administrator

The Disability Claims Administrator is a permanent full-time position located in Vancouver, British Columbia which is responsible for the administration of long-term disability claims at Canada Life. This role primarily deals with the calculations and payments of disability benefits and at the same time keeping the claims in line with the company’s contractual and policy rules under a hybrid work setup.

Job Description

  • This position is the permanent full-time Disability Claims Administrator.responsible for the administration of long-term disability benefits.
  • Standard full-time hours (37.5 hours per week typically) apply.
  • Hybrid working model is adopted by the position, which includes working remotely and being physically present in the office for two days a week in Vancouver.
  • Role shall support the correct and timely calculation of disability payments.
  • Work takes place in a teamwork-oriented, customer-centric, and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up the whole financial process for newly lodged disability claims, alongside doing the calculations for initial benefits .
  • To carry on with the issuing of payments for long-term disability benefits, it is necessary to calculate the amount first.
  • Do the normal LTD calculations, make necessary adjustments, and conduct getting/losing payment audits.
  • Provide explanation to customers about benefit calculations, payments, and tax impacts .
  • Keep the claims active through getting of medical updates, verification of income and follow-ups .
  • Perform administrative and data verification activities to support the claims teams

Requirements

  • A degree from a college or bachelor’s degree or an equivalent that has a financial concentration .
  • Very good mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills .
  • Ability to organize excellently, manage time effectively and communicate well.
  • Must be a customer-oriented team player who can also work under minimal supervision .
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office applications especially Outlook, Word and Excel .
  • Must apply for Reliability Status .
  • Security Clearance which is by the way the cost will be covered by Canada Life
