Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting the Finance Department by performing accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis activities through the use of evolving technologies.
- The candidate will be responsible for working as a member of the Financial Planning team, reporting to the Financial Planning Lead, and collaborating with colleagues across the department.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting departments with the preparation of annual operating budget submissions and contributing to financial planning, reporting, and analytical initiatives.
- The candidate will be responsible for preparing financial analyses, reports, and data visualizations using large datasets to support informed decision-making.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and monitoring of the City’s annual operating budget and Five-Year Financial Plan.
- The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with Finance colleagues and building strong working relationships with staff across the organization to support departmental financial needs.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing professional expertise while contributing to initiatives that support the community.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must hold a university degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline and be enrolled in or have completed the CPA designation.
- The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and possess strong analytical, financial reporting, budgeting, and problem-solving skills.
- The candidate should have experience using PeopleSoft, Oracle, and Maximo, which will be considered an asset.
- The candidate must have the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- The candidate must possess a sound understanding of accounting principles and financial practices, along with strong analytical and communication skills and proficiency in financial systems and standard business applications.
