Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for establishing the vision and approach for enterprise data initiatives while delivering technology solution designs efficiently.
- The candidate must demonstrate expert-level functional coding proficiency by writing high-quality production code to solve complex technical challenges when hands-on expertise is required.
- The candidate will work closely with architects to develop enterprise data platform technical architecture and system design and provide expertise on implementation approaches, feasibility assessments, and operational implications.
- The candidate will be responsible for evaluating existing architecture decisions, identifying system limitations, and proposing technical improvements based on system design expertise.
- The candidate will be responsible for delivering executive-level technical guidance on complex implementation challenges, build versus buy decisions, technology selection, and implementation risk assessments.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading engineering practices and technical workflows across the organization to strengthen technology development, technology operations, and engineering throughput.
- The candidate will be responsible for improving engineering velocity and throughput across multiple teams by optimizing processes, enhancing tools, and eliminating systemic blockers.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- A master’s degree will be considered an asset.
- The candidate must have 11β15 years of progressive software engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in large-scale system design, technical architecture, and cross-functional leadership related to data systems and platforms or equivalent technology domains.
- The candidate must demonstrate expert-level coding ability with a proven track record of writing production code to solve critical and complex technical challenges across multiple languages and frameworks.
- The candidate will be required to demonstrate strong experience in evaluating complex system interactions and determining optimal technical solutions.
- The candidate must demonstrate the ability to make technical trade-off decisions that balance immediate delivery needs with long-term scalability and organizational objectives.
- The candidate must have experience defining implementation plans and execution approaches for complex technology programs involving multiple organizations or departments.
- The candidate must be familiar with working alongside architects to convert architectural designs into actionable engineering roadmaps.
- The candidate should possess in-depth experience in engineering implementations and broad knowledge to evaluate system-wide implications.
- The candidate must demonstrate the ability to make rapid, high-confidence decisions on when to engage directly with engineers and when to delegate responsibilities.
- The candidate must demonstrate the ability to influence product strategy and investment decisions through technical insights on feasibility, risk, and business impact.
- The candidate must have proven experience managing enterprise data lake architecture from end to end, including ingestion frameworks, pipeline orchestration, DataOps disciplines (CI/CD, SLAs, observability), platform reliability, and security, privacy, and access control in partnership with risk and compliance teams.
- The candidate must have experience building and governing shared data APIs and platform services that enable consistent and scalable downstream consumption across analytics, AI/ML, and operational use cases.
- The candidate must have experience defining enterprise semantic layers and canonical models, including taxonomies, ontologies, and knowledge graphs, for use across multiple product teams and business domains.
- The candidate should have exposure to AI-driven systems, including optimization, predictions, and Agents, along with experience working with knowledge representation for LLM-powered applications.
- The candidate must have experience building knowledge bases or data platforms in retail or similarly complex consumer domains.
