Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for cutting and watering grass using power lawnmowers and edgers as required.
  • The candidate will be responsible for cleaning grounds of miscellaneous debris.
  • The candidate will assist gardeners in maintaining and pruning flowers, trees, shrubs, and in laying sod and repairing damaged turf.
  • The candidate will assist in the installation, repair, and replacement of underground irrigation systems.
  • The candidate will participate in annual beach clean-up activities and remove weeds from lakes as required.
  • The candidate will be responsible for removing dead and damaged trees and shrubs as directed.
  • The candidate will be responsible for sharpening and maintaining hand tools as required.
  • The candidate will be responsible for miscellaneous laboring tasks including cutting trees, emptying litter bins, sweeping sidewalks, and raking leaves.
  • The candidate will be responsible for shoveling snow and clearing sidewalks around civic buildings.
  • The candidate will be responsible for driving a service truck to collect parks garbage, grass, tree cuttings, and similar refuse.
  • The candidate will assist in landscaping parks and boulevards, including levelling and raking topsoil, seeding, laying sod, and irrigating.
  • The candidate will be responsible for using hand-operated tools such as portable pumps, motorized compactors, power saws, rototillers, jackhammers, and compressors.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing related work as required.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must hold a valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • The candidate must be able to work effectively with other employees, the general public, and employees of other companies.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of sprinkler system installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • The candidate must have elementary knowledge of parks and grounds maintenance techniques, particularly turf maintenance and repair.
