Job Description
- The candidate will create and maintain resource-loaded schedules for assigned capital and OMA projects in accordance with Schedule Management procedures, including Schedule Basis.
- The candidate will collaborate with Work Package Managers and Project Managers to discuss, shape, and document work package information, including activities, resources, and relationships.
- The candidate will ensure work package information meets the requirements of resource-loaded cost scheduling tools, Project Management practices, Scheduling procedures, and guidelines.
- The candidate will follow established business processes and reference tools in the execution of scheduling activities.
- The candidate will guide Project Managers and Work Package Managers in understanding scheduling terminology, definitions, sequencing, dependencies, and resource requirements.
- The candidate will ensure Project Managers and Work Package Managers consider and endorse the optimum number of activities and appropriate levels of detail.
- The candidate will use resource-loaded cost scheduling tools to decompose work packages into detailed network activities with start dates, end dates, and scheduling data established with the Work Package Manager.
- The candidate will load network activities with all labour, material, and equipment costs.
- The candidate will synchronize scheduling details with the financial system (SAP) and investigate and resolve synchronization issues within Primavera.
- The candidate will monitor schedule changes and provide recommendations to the Work Package Manager and Project Manager to support milestone and scorecard target achievement.
- The candidate will create performance measurement baselines and ensure alignment with the Statement of Objective (SOO) and Expenditure Authorization Request (EAR).
- The candidate will ensure schedules meet QA standards in accordance with PPM practices by reviewing them against QA layouts in P6 and flagging exceptions for QC review.
- The candidate will assign appropriate work centres to each activity identified in collaboration with the Work Package Manager, review the assignments for accuracy and reasonableness, and recommend adjustments to the Project Manager and Work Package Manager when required.
- The candidate will perform monthly activity progress assessments against performance measurements related to cost, schedule, and earned value.
- The candidate will investigate performance variances, identify errors in processing, record-keeping, or systems, and implement corrections in Primavera, SAP, and other project records to accurately reflect project status.
- The candidate will discuss areas of concern with the Work Package Manager and involve the Project Manager and/or Scheduling Team Lead when addressing significant scheduling changes.
- The candidate will adjust project schedules to address cost overruns, project deviations, and delays based on input from the Work Package Manager and approval from the Project Manager.
- The candidate will synchronize project scheduling details with SAP.
- The candidate will use cost and schedule variance reports to identify deviations from established baselines and collaborate with the Work Package Manager and Project Manager to determine whether change notices are required.
- The candidate will support the ongoing informational needs of the Work Package Manager and Project Manager by generating reports and summaries from resource-loaded cost scheduling tools and providing background information on outstanding issues and areas of concern.
- The candidate will provide information in response to ad hoc requests from the project team and other internal departments.
- The candidate will file and retrieve schedule-related documents in accordance with PPM practices for project document management.
- The candidate will provide technical advice and guidance to users regarding the operation and functionality of resource-loaded cost scheduling tools.
- The candidate may participate as a user representative in the development, testing, and implementation of upgrades affecting schedule practices.
- The candidate will perform additional related duties of a minor nature as assigned that do not affect the rating of the job.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must hold a degree in a related field such as Business, Engineering, or Science, along with four (4) years of related project delivery experience in a similar environment, including two (2) years of scheduling experience.
- The candidate must hold a Diploma of Technology in a related field such as Business, Engineering, or Science, along with five (5) years of related project delivery experience in a similar environment, including two (2) years of scheduling experience.
- The candidate having a professional designation in project management or scheduling (PMP, PMI-SP, or AACE PSP) will be considered an asset.
