Job Description

  • The STIR trader at RBC evaluates the worldwide interest-rate and foreign-exchange markets to spot the most profitable trading opportunities.
  • They execute trades, particularly in fixed-income and foreign-exchange products, and at the same time control the associated risks.
  • The position also involves coming up with creative ways of financing clients.
  • The focus of this new era of finance is on collaboration and innovation, with the aim of achieving success for both the clients and the society at large.
  • The different global interest and currency exchange markets will be thoroughly examined to spot the chances that can yield considerably high profits with low risks or be arbitraged.
  • The handling of financial products will encompass trading and dealing in securities like bonds, repos, money market securities, derivatives, and currency exchange contracts.
  • Clients will be provided with financing solutions based on structured and swap-based methods, through development and delivery.
  • The management of interest rate, FX, and liquidity risks will be done according to the current market conditions and the company’s risk appetite.
  • Networking with worldwide colleagues will be done to reinforce client relationships and to flip through the market share insights.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and carry out the registered trading activities for CAD and USD in both the fixed income market and Foreign Exchange market (FX).
  • Maximize the Effective Use of the Balance Sheet and Collateral for Financing and Repo Transactions.
  • Quote and manage repo and financing instruments, including term, extended, evergreen repo, bond options, T-locks, and total return swaps.
  • Exercise a Solid Understanding of the Regulatory Environment which is Basel III.
  • Connect with Collateral Management Practices in Daily Trading Operations.
  • Ensure Compliance with All: Regulations, Policies, and Control Standards Related to Fixed Income and FX.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Has a comprehensive grasp of the tenets of risk management.
  • Adept with quantitative, analytical, written, and oral skills as well as with computers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the FX swaps and Treasury cash-to-futures market.
