Job Description
- The candidate must assess the children’s development to prepare a learning program that meets their individual needs.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting coworkers with housekeeping and cooking duties.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing childcare programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining daycare equipment.
- The candidate must engage in storytelling.
- The candidate must synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate the relevant information clearly and effectively to the parents.
- The candidate must lead activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
- The candidate must encourage children to express their creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
- The candidate must engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
- The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural issues and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
- The candidate must be knowledgeable about licensing regulations.
- The candidate must establish guidelines for behaviour.
- The candidate must attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and challenges faced by the children.
- The candidate must develop and maintain collaborative relationships with coworkers and community service providers who work with children and families.
- The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects children’s health, safety, and well-being.
- The candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating activities for school-aged children in childcare programs before and after regular school hours.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
- The candidate must hold a College or CEGEP diploma.
- A candidate with experience is an asset.
- The candidate must be a member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) and hold an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, a First Aid Certificate, and a CPR Certificate.
Work setting
- The candidate should work in a childcare centre, day nursery, or crรจche, which is probably the most formal childcare setting.
- The candidate should work in before- and after-school programs to provide a safe and fun environment for all students to participate in academic, leisure, and recreational activities outside the traditional school day.
