Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for constructing, fabricating, installing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining structures and fixtures in accordance with applicable building codes, safety standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
The candidate will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and modifying furniture and millwork.
The candidate will be responsible for designing and constructing custom furniture as required.
The candidate will be responsible for replacing, repairing, and adjusting locks, hinges, security hardware, door closers, and related components.
The candidate will be responsible for performing construction work involving wood and steel framing, roofing, concrete forms, door and window installation, interior trim, alterations, T-bar ceilings, partitions, and drywall application.
The candidate will be responsible for building fences using survey pins and grade stakes to determine alignment and levels.
The candidate will be responsible for responding to emergency repairs involving doors, windows, bridge guardrails, decking, and related structures.
The candidate will be responsible for reading blueprints, determining material take-offs and cost estimates, and selecting and collecting materials for carpentry projects.
The candidate will be responsible for safely operating carpenter tools, equipment, and other City equipment, including office systems and mobile devices.
The candidate will be responsible for maintaining tools and equipment in clean and safe working condition and keeping the work area free of hazards.
The candidate will be responsible for completing work orders and maintaining accurate written records of work activities in a timely manner.
The candidate may be required to direct and instruct others on a project basis.

Job Requirements

The candidate must hold a Red Seal Trades Certification in Carpentry.
The candidate must hold a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
The candidate will be required to maintain strong service credibility.
The candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
The candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail.
The candidate must demonstrate strong teamwork skills.
