Job Description

  • Language Teacher role supporting Defence language training programs
    Inventory process used to fill current and future vacancies nationwide
    Work within a diverse civilian military team environment
  • Hybrid model: generally at least 3 days per week on site (some roles fully on site)
  • Contributes to operational readiness through language instruction

Responsibilities

  • Deliver language training to support Canadian Armed Forces personnel
  • Develop lesson plans and teaching materials
  • Assess learner progress and provide feedback
  • Support program goals related to languages
  • Work with colleagues and program partners
  • Maintain alignment with departmental values, policies, and standards

Requirements

  • Reliability security status required
  • Must strictly follow DND and public sector values, ethics, and conflict-of-interest policies
  • Candidates must possess a university degree in either education or a related specialty.
  • The candidate needs to demonstrate experience in teaching or facilitating language instruction specifically to adult learners.
  • The candidate needs to demonstrate experience in developing lesson plans along with materials and learning activities.
  • The candidate needs to demonstrate experience in assessing learner progress while making changes to their instructional methods.
  • The individual can demonstrate five specific competencies which include integrity analysis teamwork initiative flexibility and communication skills.
  • The candidate must fulfill the language requirements which include English and French or bilingual proficiency.
  • The candidate needs to have an educational degree in either education or language studies or linguistics or a related discipline.
  • The applicant needs to possess FSL or ESL teaching certification which includes CELTA TESOL and TEFL credentials.
  • Asset: Experience using educational technology and digital tool
  • Asset: Experience teaching public service employees or learners with diverse need
  • Asset: Experience in a military second language training environment
