Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for delivering programs within approved budget, scope, and schedule while meeting quality and safety objectives.
- The candidate will be responsible for acting as project manager for a portfolio of medium to high complexity projects.
- The candidate will be responsible for monitoring, forecasting, controlling, and reporting monthly program progress to all relevant stakeholders.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to improve program efficiency and delivery using new technologies and processes.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading initiatives to improve processes and procedures for work delivery across the province.
- The candidate will be responsible for working with Integrated Planning and Line Field Operations to develop the annual work plan.
- The candidate will be responsible for working with multiple delivery partners across engineering, construction, procurement, environment, and safety to deliver the program.
- The candidate will be responsible for managing multiple service and maintenance contracts across the province.
- The candidate will be responsible for monitoring program spending against unit completions and implementing change control when required.
- The candidate will be responsible for representing BC Hydro effectively to external stakeholders and contractors during project execution.
- The candidate will be responsible for selecting and adjusting delivery and contracting models to ensure smooth project execution.
- The candidate will be responsible for traveling to project sites as needed to meet stakeholders and support design, permitting, and construction activities.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have 5 years of experience in program or project management, preferably in a utility, engineering, or construction environment.
- The candidate must have intermediate technical knowledge in a specific field such as Engineering, Technical Trade, Business, or Sciences, along with general knowledge of other fields.
- The candidate may hold an Engineering degree or equivalent, which is considered an asset, or a combination of education and experience.
- The candidate must have a strong grasp of project and program management principles, delivery models, and contracting strategies.
- The candidate will be considered an asset if they hold a Project Management Institute (PMI) certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent.
- The candidate must be able to detect, manage, mitigate, and report project risks.
- The candidate must be able to manage a demanding workload and prioritize tasks daily based on risk.
- The candidate must communicate effectively in both oral and written forms, speak confidently to groups of all sizes, and lead difficult conversations toward a negotiated outcome.
- The candidate must have experience in Quality Assurance and Control, including capturing defects, communicating corrective actions, and improving quality results.
- The candidate must demonstrate proven abilities in program and contract management to influence internal and external parties, manage risk, and optimize costs through relationships.
- The candidate must demonstrate proven ability in developing processes and experience in identifying and implementing creative and efficient process improvements.
- The candidate will be considered a strong asset if they have experience and knowledge of Transmission Maintenance Programs and Spatial Asset Management (SAM).
- The candidate must maintain a Class 5 Driver’s Licence in good standing as a condition of employment.
