Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for leading the development of contract requirements, specifications, and evaluation criteria.
  • The candidate will be responsible for reviewing contractor submissions and providing acceptance or rejection feedback on drawings, reports, and management plans.
  • The candidate will be responsible for monitoring service deliverables and ensuring adherence to contract requirements while reporting performance results.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the resolution of technical and contractual queries and disputes.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting Field Managers in navigating service requests and clarifying obligations to facilitate planning and execution.
  • The candidate will be responsible for coordinating with other BC Hydro groups to meet service objectives.
  • The candidate will be responsible for providing oversight and coordination on safety, environmental, and regulatory matters.
  • The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders to design and implement strategies that improve processes and optimize vendor management and contract spend.
  • The candidate will be responsible for providing leadership on service and supply contracts for thermal generating plants.
  • The candidate will be responsible for contributing to business improvement initiatives through a Thermal Operations perspective.
  • The candidate will be responsible for developing and managing accommodation agreements and providing input on contract change requests.
  • The candidate will be responsible for reviewing and approving vendor invoices.
  • The candidate will manage all aspects of assigned work, including chairing meetings, monitoring schedules, managing scope, tracking submittals, and mitigating the risk of claims and disputes.
  • The candidate will provide general support to Field Managers by assisting with projects and initiatives as needed to meet overall business group objectives.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must hold a university degree in engineering or a related technical discipline along with one or more professional designations such as P.Eng., PMP, IACCM, CPA, or MBA. A combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge or background in thermal generation or utility field operations is considered a significant asset.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of 7 years of experience executing value-add contracts and delivering strategic business outcomes.
  • The candidate must possess the ability to address technical and/or contractual challenges, incorporating problem-solving, analytical thinking, and innovation.
  • The candidate must have experience supporting large, complex contracts involving services or commodity supply such as fuels and chemicals in the thermal industry.
  • The candidate should have experience operating in Crown corporations or government environments, which would be considered beneficial.
  • The candidate should have experience successfully managing complex relationships and negotiations, which is beneficial.
  • The candidate must have leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to diverse audiences.
  • The candidate must have experience analyzing and interpreting data, identifying trends, and communicating findings and recommendations.
  • The candidate must be proficient in computer software and systems, including analytical tools and SharePoint.
  • The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal communication, project/task management, planning, and organizational skills.
