Job Description
- You will be leading nursing and personal care services in City-operated long-term care homes.
- That includes developing nursing policies, procedures, and resident care standards, plus managing nursing budgets and day-to-day operational resources.
- You’ll also develop resident care plans along with quality improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with long-term care legislation and healthcare standards.
- Supporting evidence-based nursing practices is a big part of the work too, as well as clinical excellence.
- In addition, you’ll represent the facility in community partnerships and professional committees, so it’s not only internal work.
Responsibilities
- Develop nursing service plans, policies, and clinical care standards
- Create workforce plans, and maintain the right nursing staff levels
- Supervise, mentor, evaluate and develop nursing staff
- Oversee recruitment, orientation, training, scheduling , and retention
- Lead research, quality improvement, and evidence-based care initiatives
Requirements
- You must have current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Ontario College of Nurses.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required, along with certification in Nursing
- Administration, or equivalent management experience as needed under Ontario Regulation 79/10.
- A Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related field is preferred, though it’s not mandatory.
