Management Consultant

Management Consultant is a full-time temporary opportunity with the City of Toronto. This sort of role is a good fit if you’re the kind of professional who has already done business analysis, process improvement, project management, organizational change, and technology consulting.

You’ll be working closely with senior leadership, to help fix and refine business processes, push organizational transformation, and also support strategic initiatives across the City. Job Description

  • You’ll be expected to do things like conduct business analysis, and spot chances for operational improvements.
  • You’ll collaborate with stakeholders, to refine business processes, and improve system integration.
  • You’ll research emerging management practices, then recommend innovative solutions, even when the situation feels a little messy.
  • Finally, you’ll make sure projects stay aligned with organizational goals , and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead consulting efforts , mainly on business process refinement and organizational design, not just one angle.
  • Gather business requirements and do process mapping , then I turn that into something actionable.
  • Review day-to-day operational snags , and I suggest workable remedies, mostly pragmatic.
  • Build reports , dashboards and exec slide decks using Power BI or Tableau, depending on what the team needs.
  • Prepare project plans , workback schedules and progress updates , even when things are tight on timing.
  • Facilitate meetings and stakeholder conversations , making sure everyone is aligned.
  • Support contract management and system integration initiatives , the handoffs can get tricky.

Requirements

  • Have a university degree in Business Management, or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
  • Have hands-on experience with Power BI and/or Tableau.
  • Have built project plans and managed small to medium sized projects , from kickoff through follow-through.
  • Bring strong business analysis skills, plus advanced Microsoft Excel know-how.
