Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for coaching and instructing apprentices.
  • The candidate must detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions.
  • The candidate will be expected to repair or replace broken machinery parts.
  • The candidate will be responsible for supervising other employees.
  • The candidate must estimate costs and materials.
  • The candidate must perform routine maintenance on machinery.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications.
  • The candidate must assemble machinery and equipment (prior to installation)
  • The candidate must install machinery and equipment.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate or diploma in other trades or equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to lift weights of up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs) and 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work site environment

  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
  • The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
  • The candidate must be able to work in dusty conditions.

  • The workplace entails machinery installation, maintenance, service, and repair.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with electrical and electronic controls, marine engines, power tools, tool grinders, and hand tools.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable in start-up and testing, renovation and restoration, rigging and handling, troubleshooting, and bearings, seals, and packing.

  • The candidate must have a basic security clearance.
