Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for overseeing a team of Global Merchants who report directly to the Manager while inspiring, coaching, and guiding team members to develop their skills and achieve business priorities.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting employee development plans and managing employee performance.
- The candidate will be responsible for defining class strategies based on short-range strategy (2–3 years) and sales plan targets.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing global seasonal merchandise strategies and a roadmap in collaboration with the Merchandise Director, Cross Functional Product partners, and the Brand Creative team.
- The candidate will be responsible for briefing raw materials in partnership with the Merchandise Director.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading the team in building the assortment architecture in collaboration with the Design and Product Development teams while achieving seasonal KPIs.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading the team in creating content for showbacks to the Chief Product Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, and Creative Director, including strategy, innovation, and directional investment level.
- The candidate will be responsible for presenting the seasonal merchandise direction, including the roadmap, storytelling/campaigns, product flow, and colour, to Regional Buyers and key cross-functional partners for the assigned business category.
- The candidate will be responsible for enrolling and aligning on class strategies with Design, Product Development, and Sourcing, including carryover, seasonal newness, franchise management, and slot investments.
- The candidate will be responsible for building the strategic vision for franchises and product lifecycle management.
- The candidate will be responsible for approving sketches, colour, and protos based on the product brief and long-term category strategy.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading the team to gain in-depth consumer, competitive, and market insights.
- The candidate will be responsible for managing the colour flow for the global assortment to ensure clear, consistent, and profitable storytelling.
- The candidate will be responsible for ensuring seasonal KPIs and targets are achieved in partnership with Global Merchandise Planning.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must hold a BA, BSc, BBA, BComm, or an equivalent qualification; a specialization in Retail Management is considered an asset.
- The candidate must have a minimum of 8 years of combined people management and Merchandising experience.
- The candidate must demonstrate the ability to coach, mentor, and lead a team.
- The candidate must have experience working for a Global Brand and a strong understanding of its operations.
- The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, demonstrate mastery in Excel, be proficient in Merchandising Software, and have experience in Adobe Illustrator, which is preferred.
- The candidate must have strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret multiple data points across numerous channels and market segments.
- The candidate must have strong financial acumen and an understanding of Retail Math.
- The candidate must be able to balance analytical and creative tasks.
- The candidate must be able to interpret and apply financial insights on current business performance to guide future range plans.
- The candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of product and colour trends.
- The candidate must have knowledge of macro lifestyle and fashion trends and their impact on the active and wellness industry.
- The candidate must have a strong understanding of the global marketplace, major shifts in trends, and market activity.
- The candidate must be able to apply, interpret, and synthesize marketplace data to create a global assortment.
- The candidate must be able to communicate vision, class strategy, and feedback clearly to key partners.
