Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for budding trees.
The candidate must cut horticultural crops.
The candidate must perform greenhouse cleaning.
The candidate must harvest seedlings.
The candidate must mix the fertilizer.
The candidate must operate the climate controls.
The candidate must tie and secure plants.
The candidate must perform weeding.
The candidate must write daily basic progress reports.
The candidate must spray or dust plants with insecticides and fungicides.
The candidate must assist in pruning trees, shrubs, and plants.
The candidate must mix and prepare soils.
The candidate must plant bulbs and seeds.
The candidate must pot and re-pot plants.
The candidate must transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings.
The candidate must apply fertilizers.
The candidate must report signs of insect or disease damage.
The candidate must assist in grafting activities.
The candidate must dig up and wrap root balls of trees and shrubs.
The candidate must water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
The candidate must clean the work area.

Job Requirements

The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
The candidate should be reliable.
The candidate should be a good team player.

Work site environment

The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
The candidate must be able to work in wet/damp, hot, and cold/refrigerated conditions.

Work setting

The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
The candidate should work from a remote location, where employees do their jobs from a location other than a central office operated by the employer.
The candidate’s relocation costs should not be covered by the employer; if the company does not provide a relocation package, you may request an advance on your earnings to cover some of your moving expenses.

Experience and specialization

Type of product

The products include coniferous trees, deciduous trees, native plants, perennials, berry bushes, cut flowers, fruit trees, ornamental trees, shrubs and hedges, seasonal plants, and vegetables.

Equipment and machinery experience

The candidate must have experience using a chainsaw, forklift, garden tractors, irrigation pumps and equipment, mechanical seeders, mechanical sprayers, and light trucks.

The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
The candidate must have their own transportation.
