Job Description

• The candidate will be responsible for moving tools, equipment, and other materials.
• The candidate will be responsible for helping tradespersons, apprentices, and other workers as directed.
• The candidate will be responsible for cleaning machines and immediate work areas.
• The candidate must train or assist in the training of other workers.
• The candidate must set up, operate, and tend machinery used for mixing, calendering, extruding, moulding, and curing rubber materials or rubber products.
• The candidate must operate machines or equipment to cut, shape, splice, fit, and cement rubber materials to form rubber parts or finished rubber products.
• The candidate must operate finishing machines or equipment to trim, grind, or buff rubber products into their final form.
• The candidate must mark and re-route defective products for repair or recycling.
• The candidate must make minor adjustments or repairs to products.
• The candidate must lay out and prepare rubber materials for assembly.
• The candidate must inspect finished rubber products for defects and conformance to specifications and quality standards.
• The candidate must fill out product inspection reports.
• The candidate must check and monitor product quality.
• The candidate must affix seals or tags to approved products.
• The candidate must adjust machinery and equipment to proper settings.
• The candidate must load or feed rubber, pigments, fillers, oil, and chemicals into machines.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation or equivalent experience.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
• The candidate should be dependable.
• The candidate should be organized and flexible.
• The candidate should be reliable.
• The candidate should be a good team player.
• The candidate should be accurate.

Work site environment

• The candidate will be required to work in confined spaces.
• The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
• The candidate must work in dusty and hot conditions.
• The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.

Experience and specialization

Equipment and machinery experience

• The candidate must have experience in operating powered lifting equipment.

Area of work experience

• The candidate must have work experience in the area of maintenance and repair.

• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
• The candidate must be able to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in various positions, including those that require sitting, standing, and walking, as well as those that involve physical activity.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.
• The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
• The candidate should be willing to work under pressure.
• The candidate should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced and busy environment.
• The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks frequently.

Own tools/equipment

• The candidate must have steel-toed safety boots, gloves, safety glasses or goggles, and earplugs.
