Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for processing accounts payable and receivable documents and entering approved invoices into the Corporate Accounting system for payment.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting the preparation of financial data by reconciling commitments and expenditures, preparing journal vouchers, and preparing trial balances for all projects.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing contract administration support, including typing forms, arranging advertisements, and logging and recording tenders.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing cost data for the preparation of budget estimates and responding to enquiries from suppliers, management, and staff.
- The candidate will receive and record revenue, prepare deposits, process cheque requisitions and journal vouchers, and reconcile petty cash as required.
- The candidate will assist in controlling assets by requisitioning, receiving, and disbursing furniture, equipment, and supplies, recording vehicle utilization, verifying ministry-owned assets and materials annually, and maintaining the asset monitoring system.
- The candidate will process employee and timekeeping records, including Time on Line records, by ensuring required documentation is completed for new employees and by reviewing timesheets for accuracy and compliance with collective agreement provisions.
- The candidate will resolve inquiries related to payroll calculations and entitlements and will prepare project or responsibility centre FTE utilizations and related journal vouchers.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must possess a minimum of one (1) year of recent financial work experience obtained within the last five years, or have completed secondary school (Grade 12).
- The candidate must have experience using MS Office computer applications, including Word and Excel.
- The candidate must have experience working with a computer based financial system.
- The candidate must have experience handling cash transactions.
- The candidate must demonstrate keyboarding proficiency with an accuracy rate of 40 words per minute (wpm).
- The candidate must possess a valid BC Class 5 Driverโs License.
- The candidate must have experience in basic accounting or bookkeeping.
- The candidate must have experience using CAS, TLAM, and/or CORNET.
- The candidate must have experience working in an office setting.
- The candidate must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.
