Job Description
- The candidate must assess the children’s development to prepare a learning plan tailored to their needs.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting coworkers with housekeeping and cooking duties.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, emotional, and social development of children.
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining daycare equipment.
- The candidate will be responsible for storytelling.
- The candidate must synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate this information to the parents.
- The candidate must assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
- The candidate must lead activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
- The candidate must order supplies and equipment.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
- The candidate must encourage children to express their creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
- The candidate must engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
- The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
- The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural issues and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
- The candidate must submit written observations of children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
- The candidate must discuss the progress and challenges of children at staff meetings.
- The candidate must be knowledgeable about licensing regulations.
- The candidate must attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and problems of the children.
- The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects children’s health, safety, and well-being.
- The candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating activities for school-aged children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
- The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
- A candidate with experience is an asset.
- The candidate must have a Child Development Assistant (ECE level 1) and Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR Certification.
Work setting
- The candidate should work in a child care center, day nursery, or crèches, probably the most formal childcare setting.
