National Motor Coach Systems Ltd., located in Edmonton, AB T6N 1A3. The company is currently looking for applications for the role of Driver, motor coach. We are in search of a self-disciplined individual with outstanding interpersonal skills. The selected applicant will be required to join and take on their responsibilities at the earliest. The open positions are for Permanent employment or full-time jobs. The shift schedules are yet to be determined.

Job Description

  • The candidate must operate buses, school buses, or streetcars to transport passengers.
  • The candidate must report delays, mechanical problems, and accidents.
  • The candidate must load and unload goods.
  • The candidate will be responsible for directing passengers during emergency evacuation procedures.
  • The candidate must deal with the public.
  • The candidate must complete logbooks and reports.
  • The candidate must deal with difficult passengers and resolve conflicts calmly and professionally.
  • The candidate must communicate with passengers, dispatchers, and other drivers using two-way radio systems.
  • The candidate must ensure children’s safety when boarding and leaving the bus, and while crossing the street when the bus is stopped.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all vehicle aspects.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have an Air Brake (Z) Endorsement Certification and a Driver’s Licence (Class 2, B or C).
  • The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should be client-focused.
  • The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible.
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate should be reliable.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Experience and specialization

Type of experience

  • The candidate must have experience as an intercity bus driver, a tour and charter bus driver, and in operating buses.

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have transportation and travel experience at the local, regional, national, and provincial/territorial levels.

  • The candidate must undergo a criminal record check, a driving record check (abstract), a drug test, and a medical exam.

  • The candidate must provide a driver’s abstract.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
  • The candidate will be provided with a vehicle by the employer.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel.
