Crossing Guard
The City of Mississauga has released a notification in which they’re inviting candidates for the post of Crossing Guard. They must wear supplied safety clothing and use all safety equipment as per instructions by Crossing guards. They may assist in training other crossing guards if requested. They will be reporting incidents at the crossing to the supervisor, following up with the school officials and Peel Regional Police as directed by Supervisor. Job description
- Candidates must assist pedestrians in safely crossing roadways at designated school crossings.
- They must conduct rules of safe crossing to both students and adults.
- They must ensure compliance to the Highway Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the City’s Respectful Workplace Policy. etc.
Job requirement
- Candidates must be in better physical condition in order to be able to stand and walk holding a stop sign for up to one hour at a time in all weather conditions.
- They must demonstrate good hearing and eyesight.
- They should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Work setting
- Candidates must be available to work three shifts per day.
- They must be able to work independently without direct day to day supervision.
