Job Description

  • The candidate must prepare reports or case histories.
  • The candidate must perform administrative and office activities.
  • The candidate must implement life skills workshops.
  • The candidate must assess clients’ relevant skill strengths and development needs.
  • The candidate must conduct follow-up assessments.
  • The candidate must perform housekeeping activities.
  • The candidate must perform food preparation duties.
  • The candidate must resolve conflict situations.
  • The candidate must supervise the activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses.
  • The candidate must implement behaviour management programs.
  • The candidate must conduct individual and group counselling sessions.
  • The candidate must liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients.
  • The candidate must assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs.
  • The candidate must accompany clients to appointments and social outings.
  • The candidate must offer mentoring.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience.
  • A candidate with experience is an asset.
  • The candidate must supervise 1 to 2 people.
  • The candidate must hold a Behaviour Management Certification, an Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB) Course Certificate, a Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate, a Cultural Awareness Training Certificate, a Medication Administration Certificate, and First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • The candidate should be accurate.
  • The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must be interpersonally aware.
  • The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
  • The candidate should give importance to values and ethics.
  • The candidate should be client focused.
  • The candidate should be organized and flexible.
  • The candidate must be capable of acting independently and taking the initiative.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.

Work site environment

  • The candidate must work in a site environment focused on child welfare and early intervention programs for at-risk youth.

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about Electronic mail and MS Office.

  • The candidate must undergo security and safety checks, including a criminal record check, a child abuse registry check, a child welfare check, a driver’s licence validity check, a driving record check (abstract), and a medical exam.

  • The candidate must have their own vehicle.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
