Job Description
- The candidate must prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs.
- The candidate must read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
- The candidate must prepare layouts in accordance with building codes, using measuring tools.
- The candidate must be able to measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- The candidate must build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
- The candidate must fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
- The candidate will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating work on-site.
Job Requirements
- The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
- The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
- The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
Work site environment
- The candidate must be able to work at heights.
- The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
- The candidate must be able to work in dusty conditions.
- The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
Work setting
- The candidate should work in construction trades and crafts, including bricklaying, stonemasonry, carpentry, joinery, demolition, electrical work, painting and decorating, plumbing, scaffolding, steeple jacking, and wall and floor work.
- The candidate must work in various locations to support employees stationed at different worksites.
- The candidate should work in a commercial setting that produces a workforce full of highly competent, respectful, mature, and accountable employees working toward a common goal.
- The candidate should work in residential settings, handling tasks on one, two, and three-family dwellings.
