Job Description
- A hands-on bakery role centered on decorating and preparing cakes for sale
- Set in a warehouse bakery with both preparation and display duties
- Includes managing custom cake requests and keeping product quality consistent
- Uses tools such as pastry bags, mixers and cake slicers
- Follows standard decoration patterns and production guidelines
- May help in other bakery or warehouse areas when required
Responsibilities
- Cut cakes using a knife or slicing machine
- Set cakes on cardboard bases for handling
- Add fillings between layers and spread frosting
- Decorate cakes by hand
- Use garnishes
Prepare pastry bags with frosting - Create designs, borders, and written messages on cakes
- Check and follow special cake orders from members
- Contact members if order details are not clear
- Take cheesecakes out of pans and add toppings
- Operate whipping cream machine for cake prep
- Cut fresh fruits for decorating cakes
- Put together cake boxes and pack finished items
- Move products using wheeled racks
Shift items to cooler, freezer, or wrapping sections - Keep the work area neat and free from waste
- Follow safety and security rules
Offer friendly service to members - Support other bakery tasks when needed
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is favorable for this role.
- Prior time in cake decorating is preferred.
- A Food Safety Certification Level 1 is required from the first day.
