Job Description

  • The candidate must operate woodworking machines such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers to cut, shape, and form parts and components.
  • The candidate must prepare specifications for custom-made cabinets that maximize storage.
  • The candidate must shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces using hand tools such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
  • The candidate must study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made.
  • The candidate must trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete units and reinforce joints.
  • The candidate must sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products, and prepare and apply laminated plastics.
  • The candidate must apply varnish, veneer, stain, or polish to finished products.
  • The candidate must maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • The candidate must estimate costs and materials.
  • The candidate must repair or restyle wooden furniture, fixtures, and related products.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
  • The candidate should be accurate.
  • The candidate must be well-organized.
  • The candidate should be a good team player.
  • The candidate must be punctual.

Work setting

  • The candidate should work in a custom cabinet shop to install kitchen and bathroom cabinets and fittings for new or renovation work, and shop fittings.
