Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for providing balanced and practical legal guidance to business teams, with a focus on intellectual property, patent law, and litigation, while proactively leading strategic discussions related to the patent landscape and portfolio.
- The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with Raw Materials Innovation and Product Research and Innovation teams by providing creative legal solutions and educating partners on intellectual property matters.
- The candidate will be responsible for independently drafting patent applications and coordinating with external counsel as needed to protect innovations in raw materials and product development.
- The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the innovation identification and registration program for raw materials and product innovation.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing guidance on contract matters and ensuring effective commercial support.
- The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing patent clearance programs, patent landscape mapping, risk tracking processes, and intellectual property policies to support innovation initiatives.
- The candidate will be responsible for conducting patent risk analysis and providing guidance on patent-related risks.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing and refining patent clearance processes, policies, and patent protocols.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must hold an LL.B. or J.D. degree and be a member of the Bar in at least one U.S. or Canadian jurisdiction.
- The candidate must be a registered Patent Agent or Patent Attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office or the Canadian Intellectual Property Office.
- The candidate must have a minimum of 6 years of experience practicing patent law, preferably within a law firm or in-house legal department focused on patents, commercial innovation, and raw materials.
- The candidate must demonstrate expertise in patent law, including knowledge of raw materials, textiles, apparel, polymers, or material science, with experience in innovation management considered an asset.
- The candidate must acknowledge the presence of choice in every moment and take personal responsibility for their actions and decisions.
