Job Description

  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance and installation of water distribution components, storm drainage systems, and sanitary sewer infrastructure.
  • The candidate will be required to assist with laying pipe to the required grade specifications and alignment standards.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the operation of pipe bursting equipment used for infrastructure rehabilitation and replacement projects.
  • The candidate will be required to load, unload, mix, transport, and shovel materials in support of construction and maintenance activities.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting with the accurate placement of grade boards and the setup and operation of laser level equipment.
  • The candidate will be required to operate various types and sizes of compaction equipment in accordance with operational and safety standards.
  • The candidate will be responsible for cleaning job sites and wet well areas, including performing power washing and general site maintenance activities.
  • The candidate will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting with work activities in and around creeks and waterways while adhering to environmental protocols and best management practices.
  • The candidate will be required to assist in the operation of sewer and drainage equipment and machinery.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting with bank stabilization projects, gabion installation, and lift station construction activities.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting with live tapping operations on watermains.
  • The candidate will be required to assist with work on potable water systems while following best management practices and established procedures to maintain and protect water quality standards.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have completed Grade 12 or possess an equivalent combination of education and qualifications.
  • The candidate should possess EOCP OIT (Operator in Training) Certification for Wastewater Collection or Water Distribution as an asset.
  • The candidate must have at least six months of pipefitting experience in water or wastewater systems.
  • The candidate must hold a valid Traffic Control Certificate.
  • The candidate should possess strong versatility and manual dexterity skills.
  • The candidate must hold Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certification.
  • The candidate with an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • The candidate must possess a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s Licence with air brake endorsement, as required.
  • The candidate will be required to provide an updated Driver’s Abstract on an annual basis.

Work conditions and physical capabilities

  • The candidate must possess sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination to perform heavy manual labour.
  • The candidate will be required to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • The candidate will be required to work in close proximity to, and occasionally in contact with, raw sewage.
