Job Description

  • The candidate must interpret welding process specifications.
  • The candidate must be able to use manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated welding equipment.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes.
  • The candidate will be expected to examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
  • The candidate must be able to operate either manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
  • The candidate will be required to operate brakes, shears, and other metal shaping, straightening, and bending machines.
  • The candidate will be required to fit, braze, and torch-straighten metal.
  • The candidate must be able to use oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air) (AOC).
  • The candidate must determine the weldability of materials.
  • The candidate must be able to use hoisting and lifting equipment.
  • The candidate must be able to operate previously set-up welding machines in order to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
  • The candidate must operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or fill holes, indentations, and seams in metal.
  • The candidate will be responsible for starting, shutting down, adjusting, and monitoring the robotic welding production line.
  • The candidate will be expected to maintain and repair welding, brazing, and soldering equipment.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a related industry.
  • The candidate must be able to lift more than 45 kg (100 lbs)

Work site environment

  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
  • The candidate must be able to work at heights.
  • The candidate must be able to work in cold/refrigerated, dusty and hot conditions.
  • The candidate will be required to work in confined spaces.
  • The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
  • The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.

  • The candidate will be required to work in various locations.
  • The candidate must be willing to relocate to the specified location.
  • The candidate must be willing to work in a remote location.

  • Materials include aluminum alloys, composite materials, copper and copper alloys, magnesium alloys, nickel alloys, nonferrous materials, nonmetallic materials, plasma coatings, stainless steel, steel, iron and heavy metals, titanium and special alloys, and zirconium.

Welding techniques

  • Welding techniques include Resistance, spot or seam, Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW),
    Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG), Gas metal arc welding (GMAW), Plasma arc welding (PAW), Electron beam, Fusion welds, Stud, Thermit, Tubular, Spool, Friction, Multipass, Spray, Welding plastic, Brazing and soldering, ARC spot and Boilers.

Equipment and machinery experience

  • The candidate must have prior experience with an Arc welding machine, a Brazing machine, a Butt or seam resistance welding machine, a Gas welding machine, a Soldering machine, and a Spot welding machine.

Area of specialization

  • The candidate must be skilled in custom fabrication, auto repair, truck repair, machinery or equipment repair, shipbuilding and repair, pressure vessels, large diameter pipelines, structural construction, factory assembly, cast iron and other metals, ornamental work and fencing, balconies, stairs and railings.
