Job Description

  • The candidate must interpret welding process specifications.
  • The candidate will be required to operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
  • The candidate must be able to use hoisting and lifting equipment.
  • The candidate will be required to operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
  • The candidate will be required to operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment.
  • The candidate will be required to maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment
  • The candidate will be required to fit, braze, and torch-straighten metal.
  • The candidate must determine the weldability of materials.
  • The candidate must operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or fill holes, indentations, and seams in metal.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes.
  • The candidate will be in charge of inspecting welds to ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
  • The candidate must be able to use oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC).
  • The candidate will be required to use Computer-aided design (CAD).
  • The candidate will be responsible for welding small and large components such as copper plumbing, beams, and pipelines.
  • The candidate will be responsible for detecting flaws in welded surfaces, structures, and components.
  • The candidate will be required to align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining equipment in good working order so that safety is not compromised.
  • The candidate will be in charge of assembling all components using power and hand tools.
  • The candidate will be in charge of analysing the speed and length of the welding arc throughout the welding process.

  • The candidate must have a minimum qualification of a Registered Apprenticeship certificate.
