Job Description

  • The candidate must plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  • The candidate must address customers’ complaints or concerns.
  • The candidate must coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques.
  • The candidate must demonstrate professionalism in customer service.
  • The candidate must arrange travel, related itineraries, and make reservations.
  • The candidate must load and unload goods.
  • The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks in order to transport goods and materials.
  • The candidate must oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
  • The candidate must perform brake adjustments.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all vehicle aspects.
  • The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
  • The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
  • The candidate must transport and handle dangerous goods.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
  • The employer will provide training to the selected candidate.
  • The candidate must hold an AZ class license, an Air Brakes Endorsement Certification, and a valid Driverโ€™s License (Class 1 or A).
  • The candidate must be organized.
  • The candidate should be reliable.

  • The candidate must have patience.

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge

  • The candidate must be knowledgeable about bill of lading, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip) and trip reports.

Type of trucking and equipment

  • The candidate must have experience operating tractor-trailers.

Transportation/travel experience

  • The candidate must have transportation and travel experience at the international, local, national, provincial/territorial, and regional levels.
  • The candidate must have long-haul and short-haul travel experience.
