Job Description

• The candidate must respond to customer complaints or concerns.
• The candidate must maintain professionalism in customer service.

• The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
• The candidate must inspect the vehicle’s condition, including the brakes, tires, lights, and other essential components.
• The candidate must perform brake adjustments.
• The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all vehicle aspects.
• The candidate must perform preventive maintenance.
• The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
• The candidate must handle and transport dangerous goods.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
• There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
• A candidate with experience is an asset.
• The candidate must have an Air Brakes Endorsement Certification, Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi-trailer trucks), Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than three axles), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement Certification, Driver’s License (Class 1 or A), and Driver’s License (Class 3 or D).
• The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate should have good judgmental skills.
• The candidate must be well-organized.
• The candidate should be reliable.
• The candidate should be a good team player.
• The candidate must be hardworking.

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge

• The candidate must be knowledgeable about dangerous goods occurrence reports, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, and trip reports.

Type of trucking and equipment

• The candidate must have experience operating flatbed and liquid bulk trucks.

Transportation/travel experience

• The candidate must have transportation and travel experience at the local and provincial/territorial levels.
• The candidate must have short-haul travel experience.

• The candidate must undergo a driver’s licence validity check and a driving record check (abstract).
