Job Description

• The candidate must plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
• The candidate must maintain professionalism in customer service.
• The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
• The candidate will be responsible for performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, as well as overseeing all vehicle aspects.
• The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.
• The candidate will be responsible for recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring cargo safety and security.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in the English language.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The employer will provide training to the selected candidate.
• The candidate must have Air Brakes Endorsement Certification, a Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi-trailer trucks), a Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer trucks or vehicles with more than three axles), and a Driver’s License (Class 1 or A).

Work setting

• The candidate must work in multiple locations to support employees stationed at different worksites.

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge

• The candidate must be knowledgeable about driver logbooks and inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip).

Type of trucking and equipment

• The candidate must have experience operating straight trucks (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles).
