Traditional addictions counsellorÂ
The Government of Northwest Territories has released a notice of hiring the eligible candidates for the post of traditional addictions counselor. Candidates who are eligible and willing to join this post can apply for this post. They’re responsible for providing addictions counseling and facilitating addictions and correctional group programs from an Indigenous knowledge foundation to inmates at the South Mackenzie Correctional Centre (SMCC) in Hay River. Job requirementÂ
- Candidates must have specialized knowledge of addictions, addictions models and addictions counseling to be eligible for this post.Â
- Candidates must have knowledge of traditional values, customs and ideology of the Indigenous peoples of the NWT to be eligible for this post.Â
- They must have knowledge of the residential school system, intergenerational trauma and trauma informed care.Â
- Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be eligible for this post.Â
- They must have good time management skills and excellent computer skills to be eligible for this post.Â
- They must have equivalent combinations of education and experience to be eligible for this post.Â
- They must be First aid and CPR certified and possess a class 4 driver’s license to be eligible for this post.Â
- Candidates must provide a satisfactory criminal record check to be eligible for this post.Â
Work settingÂ
- Candidates must have a diploma in a Social Science related field and 2 years of experience in an addictions related field or a certificate in addictions counseling and 3 years of experience in an addictions related field.
- Candidates who have failure to provide a satisfactory check may deem you disqualified from the competition to be eligible for this post.
