Job description
- Lead construction and maintenance projects at landfill sites
- Supervise staff, contractors and daily operations
- Plan work, assign tasks and review performance
- Manage budgets and control project costs
- Ensure compliance with safety laws and city policies
- Monitor landfill gas, odours and site conditions
- Address both complaints from staff members and public inquiries about their services.
- Conduct inspections of the workplace while simultaneously responding to emergency situations.
- Organize training sessions while establishing rules for mandatory usage of safety equipment.
- Maintain records, fleet details and inspection reports
Job requirements
- Post secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and work background
- Strong supervisory background with increasing responsibility in construction and maintenance
- Background in earthworks such as excavation, trenching and grading
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools
- Knowledge of construction documents and contractor coordination
- Ability to read drawings and blueprints
- Knowledge of safety laws including OHSA and related regulations
- Understanding of building codes, policies and labour agreements is an asset
- Certifications in Health and Safety, WHMIS or HACCP are an asset
