Job Description
- Candidates working in this post are appointed to be involved in visiting less-travelled areas of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
- They’re also appointed to work in forest, aquatic and vegetation surveys in remote sites.
- Candidates are also appointed for measuring and recording biological data, including handling live specimens.
- They’re also appointed for entering data into computer databases.
- Candidates working at this post are also appointed for maintaining, cleaning and repairing field equipment.
- Candidates are appointed to take control of invasive species working at this post.
Job requirement
- Candidates working in this post must attain a minimum of 1 year of post-secondary studies in a natural science or natural resource management program.
- They must attain basic knowledge of flora and fauna specific to Cape Breton Highlands National Park to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must attain basic knowledge of computers and data management.
- They must attain the ability to measure and record biological data.
- Candidates must attain dedicated experience with large mammals, such as bears, coyotes, moose, and similar wildlife, or with human-wildlife coexistence activities.
- Candidates must have Knowledge of wilderness and remote travel to be eligible for this post.
- Candidates must have a valid class 5 Nova Scotia Driver’s License, or other provincial equivalency.
- They must attain the willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment.
Work setting
- Candidates must have the willingness to work and travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
