Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for designing and leading Pilates-based fitness classes, with opportunities to support Yoga, Barre, or Cycle classes if certifications allow, for participants of all ages and fitness levels.
- The candidate will be responsible for delivering clear instruction, demonstrating proper form and technique, and providing modifications to support different abilities and improve performance.
- The candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and motivating class environment while actively supervising participants.
- The candidate will be responsible for conducting participant screening, including PAR-Q, and responding to participant questions, concerns, and individual needs.
- The candidate will be responsible for setting up and inspecting equipment before use to ensure the fitness space is safe, organized, and ready for class.
- The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining facility and equipment safety and reporting any issues or malfunctions promptly.
- The candidate will be responsible for reinforcing facility guidelines, including equipment use and overall conduct.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing basic cleaning duties and ensuring all equipment is properly maintained, stored, and secured after use.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must be a certified instructor in Pilates or a related specialty fitness discipline, with a strong background in Pilates preferred.
- The candidate must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive, team-focused approach.
- The candidate must be confident in demonstrating exercises and providing modifications for a variety of abilities and fitness levels.
- The candidate must be enthusiastic, approachable, and committed to delivering safe, fun, and effective classes.
- The candidate must possess a recognized fitness certificate approved by an accreditor, along with recent related experience working with specialty fitness classes in a fitness facility, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- The candidate must have teaching experience in Pilates.
- The candidate must possess current Emergency First Aid and CPR βAβ certification.
- The candidate must possess BCRPA Specialty Certification, such as BCRPA Pilates, BCRPA Yoga Fitness, Barre, or an equivalent specialty certification, with Pilates certification strongly preferred.
- The candidate must hold current BCRPA Fitness Certification registered as a fitness leader in specialty fitness, such as BCRPA Group, BCRPA Aquatic Fitness, or an equivalent certification.
- The candidate must possess specialty certification such as Pilates or Yoga certification.
- The candidate must possess sound knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, standards, safety regulations, and rules governing the work performed.
- The candidate must possess sound knowledge of current techniques and the principles of anatomy and physiology as they apply to the work performed.
- The candidate must possess sound knowledge of current industry standards and methods of practice as they apply to the work performed.
- The candidate must possess sound knowledge of various fitness programs, equipment, and group dynamics.
- The candidate must be able to plan, develop, design, and instruct specialty fitness exercise classes to assist participants of varying levels and ages in reaching their health and fitness goals.
- The candidate must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and deal tactfully and diplomatically with a variety of participants.
- The candidate must be able to provide, select, and utilize music appropriately to enhance class instruction.
- The candidate must possess skill in the operation of a variety of equipment used in fitness facilities.
