Job Description

Software Engineer develops and improves technology solutions for capital markets platforms.
This is a full time position of hybrid nature that is based in Toronto.
The role covers the complete software development life cycle across different projects.
You will work with business teams, architects and engineering leaders to deliver modern applications.
The position involves modern technologies, cloud platforms and large scale systems.

Responsibilities

Review business needs and assess system requirements with end users and business teams.
Work with Architecture teams on solution design and system integration.
Develop, improve and maintain software applications.
Create specifications, write production quality code and support implementation.
Design and implement database schemas.
Create and automate functional, regression, performance and nonfunctional testing.
Write deployment scripts and support code releases.
Support production systems when needed.
Review and improve legacy code when required.
Coach and train end users when needed.
Take part in SCRUM meetings.

Requirements

Work background of at least 4 years with Java, Python, .NET or C# is required.
Work background of at least 4 years developing, deploying and maintaining large scale applications with complex integrations is required.
Work background of at least 4 years writing and running SQL scripts is required.
Good level of understanding for Postgres, MSSQL, Oracle DB and also Apache NiFi or Apache Kafka or Apache Elasticsearch when there are huge datasets.
Can work with UNIX Shell scripting on Solaris or Linux environments is a plus.
You should be comfortable using routine job tools like CRON, Tidal, or Airflow.
Strong background in Web Services and APIs is expected.
Familiarity with Maven, Gradle and Jenkins.
Work background in Agile development and Test Driven Development is required.
Work background with Microsoft Azure Cloud or Google Cloud GCP is considered an asset.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant work background is required.
Work background with Angular, React or JavaScript is considered an asset.
Strong knowledge of networking protocols and security principles is preferred.
Capital Markets product knowledge is considered an asset.
Work background with Cloud platforms or Kubernetes is considered an asset.
Work background with real time, high availability and low latency systems is preferred.
Work background with multithreaded applications is considered an asset.
