The chosen applicant will be required to join on a temporary full-time basis for 6 months under CUPE Local 2011.

Job Description

  • The candidate will perform street operations work focused on maintaining and improving municipal road infrastructure, including surface repairs, signage, line markings, and snow and ice control.
  • The candidate will supervise a crew of skilled and semi-skilled workers and equipment operators in day-to-day operations.
  • The candidate will plan and carry out routine maintenance activities and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
  • The candidate will operate specialized road maintenance equipment as required.
  • The candidate will respond to emergencies and storm-related events to maintain safe road conditions.
  • The candidate will ensure all work is carried out in compliance with municipal standards and WorkSafeBC regulations.
  • The candidate will maintain accurate site records and documentation related to work activities.
  • The candidate will coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders as needed for operational requirements.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must have completed Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • The candidate must hold a valid BC Class 3 Driver’s Licence with air brake endorsement.
  • The candidate must have at least three years of direct experience in road maintenance and construction.
  • The candidate must have introductory supervisory training or equivalent experience in directing and leading workers.
  • The candidate must hold valid Traffic Control Person certification.
  • The candidate must hold Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification.
  • The candidate must demonstrate physical fitness to perform outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • The candidate with an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
