Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for identifying quality risks and developing mitigation plans for multiple capital projects.
- The candidate must establish project scope requirements and define QA deliverables to support project goals.
- The candidate will be responsible for coordinating QA activities with other engineering disciplines.
- The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the completion of quality plans for capital projects.
- The candidate will be responsible for reviewing inspection and test plans and contractor submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- The candidate will be responsible for witnessing testing activities, including factory acceptance tests, and verifying compliance with standards and specifications.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading factory or site construction audits.
- The candidate will be responsible for initiating and resolving non-conformities in accordance with quality requirements.
- The candidate will be required to work closely with engineering, supply chain, contract management, construction management, and suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications and QA requirements.
- The candidate must prepare clear and concise reports, memos, and project quality plans.
- The candidate must review work prepared by others to ensure accuracy and adherence to engineering standards.
- The candidate will be required to participate in strategic sourcing events to support project and procurement objectives.
- The candidate will be responsible for defining evaluation criteria, assessing proposals, and conducting supplier evaluations and surveillance.
- The candidate will be responsible for guiding Quality Assurance inspectors and supporting the professional development of engineers and technical staff.
Job Requirements
- The candidate will be required to hold an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering recognized by Canadian Universities and accredited by Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
- The candidate must have at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- The candidate must be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
- The candidate will be required to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and effectively summarize complex issues for specific audiences.
- The candidate must demonstrate a proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- The candidate should have experience with hydroelectric or electric utility operations, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should have experience with transmission tower fabrication and testing, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate must possess knowledge of transmission line construction practices, considered advantageous.
- The candidate should have knowledge of civil and structural design concepts and the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- The candidate should have experience with concrete mix design, testing, and repair methodologies, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should have experience with civil inspections, soil sampling and testing, and compaction analysis, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should have experience with concrete foundations, including rebar, formwork, placement, inspection, and testing, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should have experience with caissons, helical pile foundations, and screw piles, including installation, inspection, and testing, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should have experience with pre-cast material design and testing, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should have experience with structural steel, welding practices, and inspections, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should have experience with Quality Assurance methods related to construction, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should have auditing experience, including manufacturing, construction site, or plant evaluations, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should have knowledge of public procurement processes, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should have an understanding of project management, design, and contract management processes, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate should demonstrate the ability to navigate conflicting business, project, and technical requirements, which is considered an asset.
- The candidate must maintain a valid Class 5 Driver’s License in good standing as a condition of employment.
