Job Description
- The Senior Project Lead position supports large capital infrastructure improvement projects across City divisions.
- This is a full time temporary 12 month role with a hybrid work structure and 35 hours per week.
- The position is based at Toronto City Hall within the Strategic Capital Coordination Office.
- The role includes project planning, process improvement and coordination work tied to major infrastructure initiatives.
- Employees work in an office setting with various teams and leadership groups.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects related to CDI Review and ECCD program implementation.
- Develop operating procedures, implementation tools and process improvements.
- Support multiple project teams working on infrastructure initiatives.
- Create and track some key performance indicators for making project delivery more efficient.
- Prepare procurement paperwork like RFQ, RFP, REOI and RFI materials.
- Manage contracts, review proposals and help with consultant selection.
- Prepare presentations, reports and briefing notes for management and the City Council .
- Support training programs for updated capital delivery methods.
- Apply change management methods across divisions.
- Maintain project records, newsletters and website updates.
- Follow Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements and identify construction hazards.
Requirements
- Must have post secondary education in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business or a related field or an equivalent mix of education and work history.
- Considerable work history leading complex projects with minimal supervision in municipal settings is required.
- Work history balancing political, public and multi divisional partner interests is required.
- Strong knowledge of capital infrastructure planning, coordination, design and delivery is required.
- Work history supporting business transformation and continuous process improvement initiatives is required.
- PMP designation would be considered an asset.
- Strong writing and verbal interaction skills are required.
- Must be comfortable preparing presentations and reports for senior management, elected officials and the public.
- Strong review, critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution skills are required.
- Must have work history using research and partner feedback to support decision making.
- A strong understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, plus the hazard realities in infrastructure construction is required.
- You also need strong knowledge of Ontario statutes, municipal legislation and the relevant corporate policies.
