- The Senior Generalist Engineer will provide support in the creation and maintenance of tools and workflows to support game development tasks at The Coalition.
- In this role, you will design core systems and plugins in Unreal Engine.
- This role will assist the jobs of artists, designers, and engineers in their fields of work.
- Working closely with cross functional teams is an essential part of the job.
- Identifying pain points and developing technical solutions are another important part.
- As part of the role you will be responsible for evaluating and operationalizing new technologies to improve pipeline performance, scalability and efficiency.
- The Senior Generalist Engineer will also mentor other developers and champion best practices throughout the studio.
- The role requires solid C++ and Unreal Engine skills and familiarity with Perforce.
- Candidates should have a general understanding of rendering, systems, audio, gameplay and animation.
Responsibilities
- Create, execute, and sustain solutions and processes that enhance and unify development across several teams.
- Develop core infrastructure and plugins within the Unreal Engine. This enables engineers to be more fruitful at their job.
- Work directly with the content department, engineering department, and production departments.
- Keep focus on identifying issues and develop cross-team solutions.
- Evaluate and implement new technology towards improving workflow, performance, and scalability.
- Work with other studios within Xbox and assist in identifying and resolving performance, memory, and developer efficiency issues.
- Advise and assist in mentoring developers and promote best practices through the studio.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant area and four years or more of technical engineering expertise working with C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar experience.
- Four years or more of experience developing and supporting game tools, systems, and workflows.
- Strong experience in languages like C++, C#, and also in other object-oriented programming.
- Competent problem-solving skills.
- Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with engineers, artists, and cross-discipline teams.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine.
- Ample experience in developing game engine tools and toolchains.
