Job Description
- A rural and urban mail carrier is a delivery role covering rural and suburban routes using a personal vehicle
- On-call relief position with flexible and changing work hours
- Mostly independent work with driving as the main activity
- Requires working outdoors and on the road in all weather conditions
- Focus on safe and timely delivery across different communities
- Work includes handling various postal services and delivery items
Responsibilities
- Learn and remember local routes, roads and delivery points
- Keep mail secure at all times during delivery
- Oversee any mistakes or damaged mail
Lift and carry items up to fifty pounds - Drive and complete deliveries in all weather and traffic conditions
Requirements
- A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record of at least 3 years is required
- A driver’s abstract must be provided as part of the application
- The ability to lift up to 22.7 kg and carry up to 15.9 kg regularly is required
- Availability for on-call work is required
The ability to read, write and speak - English and/or French is required
- Experience in customer service is considered an asset
- Experience in delivery or driving roles is considered an asset
