Job Description

• The candidate will be expected to assess patients in order to determine appropriate nursing interventions.
• The candidate must assist in surgery and other medical procedures.
• The candidate must work with others to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care.
• The candidate will be expected to perform disease screening.
• The candidate must deliver health education programmes.
• The candidate will be expected to provide immunization programmes.
• The candidate must dispense and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
• The candidate will be expected to participate in nursing-related research activities.
• The candidate will be responsible for managing home care cases.
• The candidate will be expected to monitor, assess, address, document, and report symptoms and changes in the conditions of patients.
• The candidate will be required to operate or monitor medical equipment or apparatus.
• The candidate will be expected to participate in community needs assessment and programme development.
• The candidate must be able to provide nursing care.
• The candidate must provide supportive counselling and life skills programming.
• The candidate will be responsible for supervising licenced practical nurses and other nursing personnel.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be bilingual.
• The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree.
• Candidate having experience is an asset.
• The candidate will be expected to supervise employees in a variety of areas of responsibility.
• The candidate must have an Acute Care Nursing Certificate, Intravenous (IV) therapy Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate, CPR Certificate and First Aid Certificate.
• The candidate must complete Non-acute care infection control professional (NAC ICP) and Tracheostomy care training.
• The candidate must be a Certified Nurse in Critical Care – Canada (CNCC-C), eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse in the province/territory of employment, and eligible for registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in the province of employment.
• The candidate must be licenced as a registered nurse by provincial or territorial authorities and a registered psychiatric nurse by provincial authorities.
• The candidate should be accurate.
• The candidate should be client focused.
• The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.
