Job Description

  • The candidate will be required to take diagnostic tests.
  • The candidate will be expected to use and monitor respiratory equipment in order to administer treatments.
  • The candidate will be expected to participate in home care programmes for chronic respiratory patients as well as to educate patients and their families.
  • The candidate will be expected to meet with and examine patients suffering from pulmonary diseases, disorders, or complications.
  • The candidate will be expected to work as part of a team of health care professionals to manage patient care by assisting with medical procedures.
  • The candidate will be responsible for administering aerosol medications and performing chest physiotherapy on patients.
  • The candidate will be expected to evaluate the treatment’s progress.
  • The candidate will be required to administer inhalants.
  • The candidate will be required to keep charts with patient identification and therapy information.
  • The candidate will be required to set up and operate devices such as therapeutic gas administration apparatus, mechanical ventilators, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
  • The candidate will be expected to finish discharge planning by collaborating with other members of the medical team.
  • The candidate must train patients on how to administer treatments and use equipment on their own.
  • The candidate will be expected to recommend outpatient or home health equipment and treatment.
  • The candidate will be responsible for monitoring patient physiological responses to therapy, such as arterial blood gases, vital signs or blood chemistry changes, and changes in lung function, as well as consulting with physicians if there are any adverse reactions.
  • The candidate will be required to adhere to the treatment parameters.
  • The candidate will be required to provide emergency care, such as external cardiac massage, artificial respiration, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation assistance.
  • The candidate will be responsible for inspecting, testing, cleaning, and maintaining respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is safe and efficient.
  • The candidate will be required to measure arterial blood gases, read prescriptions, assess lung capacity, and review other information in order to assess the patient’s condition.
  • The candidate will be required to communicate the results of blood tests to a physician.
  • When necessary, the candidate will be required to make emergency visits to resolve equipment issues.
  • When necessary, the candidate will be expected to order equipment repairs.
  • To gain cooperation, the candidate will be necessary to explain health-care treatment procedures to patients.
  • The candidate will be expected to evaluate the impacts of a respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating the progress of the patient, as well as making recommendations for changes and adjustments.
  • The candidate will be expected to follow with processes, rules, and regulations in order to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • The candidate will be expected to follow infection-control policies and processes in order to protect patients and employees.

  • The candidate should be fluent in English language.
  • The candidate should have minimum qualification of College or CEGEP
  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum 3 to 5 years of working experience in similar industry.
  • The candidate must have Certificate of Registry from the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists – R.R.T.
