Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality service to British Columbians through in-person, telephone, and virtual interactions.
- The candidate will engage with clients who may be in crisis or have emotional, physical, or mental conditions that create communication barriers.
- The candidate will be responsible for reviewing policies to identify the information needed to begin service requests.
- The candidate will be responsible for obtaining information from clients, the general public, and others while providing general information on program policies, regulations, procedures, and community services.
- The candidate will be responsible for using independent judgment to resolve or escalate potentially controversial situations and refer inquiries to the appropriate staff as required.
- The candidate will be responsible for processing documentation such as reconsideration requests, appeal forms, repayment forms, and other related records while generating reports.
- The candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining customer-related records in compliance with the BC Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection Act requirements, data retention protocols, and the branch ARCS/ORCS filing system.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong judgment and discretion when working with confidential data and addressing security issues that could affect public interests or involve legal implications.
- The candidate will be responsible for identifying missing information, discrepancies, and inconsistencies in records and contacting clients or other individuals to obtain clarification or additional details.
- The candidate will be responsible for answering inquiries about request statuses and completing detailed searches within information systems to address questions.
- The candidate will be responsible for entering information into online and hard copy program files while maintaining accurate program records.
- The candidate will be responsible for updating, organizing, and distributing program materials, program information, and other related documents.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing financial support by receiving and issuing receipts for recovery amounts, depositing cash, verifying the accuracy and completeness of financial documents, and ensuring negotiable documents remain secure.
- The candidate will be responsible for receiving, sorting, prioritizing, logging, tracking, and distributing incoming mail, preparing outgoing mail, and ordering and maintaining office supply inventory.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have completed secondary school graduation or an equivalent level of education.
- The candidate must have experience delivering a high standard of client service in a high-volume environment through in-person, virtual, or telephone interactions.
- The candidate must have experience using various computer applications, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- The candidate must have experience providing services to clients experiencing poverty issues, substance use, or mental health issues.
- Preference may be given to the candidate who has experience working in a social services environment.
- Preference may be given to the candidate who has experience providing financial and administrative support.
- Preference may be given to the candidate who has experience managing conflicts or has received conflict management training.
- The candidate must be willing and able to demonstrate resilience when facing adversity and show empathy while interacting with citizens.
- The candidate must be willing and able to use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.
- The candidate must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.
