Job Description
- A Registered Nurse provides mental health care and support to individuals in community settings.
- The role is based in-person in Charlottetown, PE with Medavie.
- The position includes patient assessments, care planning, and providing support services.
- Casual employment with on demand hours, including day and evening shifts.
- Work takes place as part of a Mobile Mental Health Team supporting community care.
- The role involves interacting with multiple healthcare and support services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments including substance use and suicide risk.
- Assess clients to determine the most suitable services.
- Provide education and support to clients in both individual and group settings.
- Develop care plans together with clients.
- Interact with different service providers involved in client care.
- Provide trauma informed and recovery based care to clients and families.
- Provide education about harm reduction methods to its clients.
- Complete other tasks which are necessary for their position.
Requirements
- The candidate must hold a degree or diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing, with relevant clinical experience considered.
- The role requires one to three years of nursing experience in hospital or community settings.
- The candidate must obtain and maintain certifications related to the practice area.
- The candidate must be active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island.
- The candidate must have knowledge of substance use and chemical dependency.
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and group interaction skills are required.
- The candidate must have a good work and attendance record.
- The candidate must have knowledge of the Provincial Mental Health Act.
- Additional education and experience will be considered an asset.
- Experience using the Telus EMR system would be considered an asset.
