Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for providing instruction, leadership, and support for a variety of social, active, and recreational programs, special events, camps, and nature-based activities, including out-trips, while assisting with the leadership and mentorship of volunteers and junior-level staff, supporting program development, planning, and evaluation, and preparing program outlines, materials, and instructions.
- The candidate will be responsible for organizing supplies, program equipment, and other resources required for day-to-day program operations.
- The candidate will be responsible for completing documentation and report writing related to program participants as required.
- The candidate will be responsible for promoting interest in program activities, encouraging participation, responding to immediate inquiries, and referring issues as necessary.
- The candidate will be responsible for monitoring facilities and equipment for safety, security, and maintenance requirements, enforcing rules and regulations, and responding to incidents as required.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing other related duties as required.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have completed Grade 12, supplemented by courses related to the work, along with some related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- The candidate must have working knowledge of the fundamentals of program leadership and instruction for preschool and school-aged children, youth, and adults.
- The candidate must have working knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures, and policies governing the work.
- The candidate must have working knowledge of modern office methods and procedures.
- The candidate must have the ability to participate in planning and implementing programs and activities while providing leadership and instruction.
- The candidate must have the ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts.
- The candidate must have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with program participants, parents, and external agencies.
- The candidate must have the ability to assist in the leadership of volunteers and junior-level staff.
- The candidate must have skill in the operation of equipment used in the work.
- The candidate must possess a valid Standard/Intermediate First Aid and CPR/AED, Level C certification.
- The candidate must have completed 20 hours of Responsible Adult Training for working with children.
- The candidate will be required to hold a valid Food Safe Certificate.
- The candidate must have completed High Five Training β Principles of Healthy Child Development.
